Amboseli and Chyulu Hills Amboseli, on the southern border of Kenya with Tanzania, had its hay day in the 70s and 80s when a number of big hotels established themselves in the middle of the park. Laikipia Plateau Laikipia is a vast expanse of wild country in the central highlands of Kenya - it covers almost 2 million acres and runs from Mt Kenya in the East to the Rift Valley in the west. Lake Baringo and Lake Bogoria Baringo is a fresh water lake in a harsh dry rock strewn landscape where it's hard to say what the inhabitants of this area manage to survive on. Lake Turkana Lake Turkana, lying on the far northern border of Kenya with Ethiopia, is a harsh but incredibly beautiful lake. Masai Mara The Masai Mara is one of the best known wildlife areas in Africa. Meru Meru is a stunning, little visited and remote park that was home to George and Joy Adamson in the 60's. Nairobi Nairobi's unlikely to be the focus of your safari, but whether you end up staying in Nairobi because of flight timings, or because you choose to break your journey, it's well worth opening your eyes to the spectacle that is modern Nairobi and there is plenty to recommend it for a short visit. Naivasha Nakuru and Elementaita Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley dominated by the harsh volcanic crater of Mt Longonot to the east and the Eburu Hills to the west. Samburu and Shaba Samburu National Reserve straddles the muddy Euaso Nyiro river and is one of the most picturesque parks of northern Kenya. The Matthews Range A stunning range of hills & mountains to the north of Laikipia at the base of Kenya's NFD (Northern Frontier District). Tsavo Tsavo National Park was established just after the Second World War and with an area of 21,812 Km2, it is the largest park in Kenya.  |
